The Greatest Invitation
The Heart of Prayer
The beauty of prayer is that it is God’s desire for us to come near to Him. God actually invites us to ask Him for things:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Philippians 4:6
God knows everything that is in our hearts - our true thoughts, needs and desires; even the things that we have yet to understand - but in prayer we open our innermost selves to our Father and grow in love for His nature and His gentle and kind work within us. When we present our requests to God we are also expressing our dependence on him, acknowledging that He is in control of all of the details of our lives, and that we need his involvement - all true prayer is faith in action! It is the positioning posture for miracles to invade our sphere of influence. He invites us to engage with Him, to be intimate with Him, and to see His hand move hearts near and far with His power and love.
This is the heart of prayer.
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
